- אֶמְתָנִיf. ch. (v. preced.) fear-inspiring, powerful. Dan. 7:7 (quot. Gen. R. s. 44 אימ׳; Ex. R. s. 25 אימתנו; Lev. R. s. 13 אימ׳ a. אימ׳; Yalk. Gen. 77; Lev. 536 אמ׳). (Ges. H. Dict. אֶמְתָּנִי, not found in editions, fr. מתן to be strong; cmp., however, אֵמְתָן a. אֵימְתָן. (Edit. Letteris, Berl. 5644 a. m., אֵימְתָנִי.
